THE WARGO GROUP

Leadership & Academic Consulting

Helping academic leaders lead more effectively and helping institutions improve enrollment, retention, student outcomes, culture, and organizational performance.

Executive Leadership Coaching | Academic Strategy | Enrollment, Retention & Student Success

Academic leaders must manage people, budgets, enrollment, student outcomes, accreditation, culture, strategy, and institutional expectations, often at the same time.

And when something isn't working, identifying the real problem can be difficult from inside the organization.

The Wargo Group helps leaders and institutions step back, assess what is happening, identify what is getting in the way, and develop practical strategies for moving forward.

For INSTITUTIONS

I’ve sat in the chair

I've spent decades in higher education as an assistant professor, associate professor, full professor, regional dean, interim dean, and dean.

I've led through accreditation, enrollment challenges, student retention concerns, academic outcomes, organizational change, budget pressures, faculty issues, and the everyday complexities of leading academic organizations.

I've also learned that leadership rarely unfolds exactly the way the textbooks say it should.

I've made difficult decisions.

I've made mistakes.

I've changed my mind.

I've learned from all of it.

That's the perspective I bring to every coaching relationship and consulting engagement.

Not theory alone. Experience.

How we work

1. Listen
Understand the problem before prescribing the solution.

2. Assess
Examine the people, processes, data, structures, and assumptions contributing to the challenge.

3. Act
Develop practical recommendations and a realistic implementation strategy.

No generic playbooks. No 80-page report that sits on a shelf.

Who we work with

Colleges & Universities
Schools & Colleges of Health Professions

Academic Leadership Teams

While my professional background gives me particular depth in pharmacy and health-professions education, the leadership and institutional challenges I work on extend across higher education.

Maybe you know exactly what the problem is.

Maybe you don't.

Either is fine.

If you're an academic leader wrestling with a challenge, or an institution looking for an outside perspective, let's talk.

The first conversation isn't a sales pitch. It's simply an opportunity to understand what you're facing and determine whether I might be able to help.
